Airport and hotel resort rundown

We ended up driving to Houston to get a direct flight to Orlando. Flying out of Lake Charles was too expensive and had connections, which was scary to us. It was fine, but flying out of LC may have been better if I would have booked it earlier. We had to leave at 3:30 AM to make the flight in time, so they slept in the car until we arrived in Houston. The airport was fine and they whisk you through security if you have kids and a stroller :) It was crazy disassembling the stroller, bags and kids for security but went ok. Madi and P each had a backpack which was useless because we ended up holding and managing them anyway. We packed one big suitcase to check and one carry on, three backpacks and one diaper bag- that's like six bags total! (all passengers with an infant can have one diaper bag and one stroller extra, no charge.) In hind site, I would pack and check two suitcases and have one backpack for each adult plus your stroller. We had the double stroller which was a lifesaver in the airport and a MUST in Disney World. The kids did great on the plane and acted like they fly all the time. ha ha. We kept them eating so their ears were ok- I packed a ton of snack bags.

Disney has the Magical Express that gets your luggage and your party to and from the Orlando airport easily which was awesome. We were dropped at our resort, Coronado Springs about 1 PM and all took a nap for three hours before hitting Hollywood Studios! Donnie and I were sick from the plane and long day so that was extremely rough. I cried that night. Luckily we were all better the next day!

Coronado Springs was just adequate. It is what Disney calls a "moderate" resort. It was huge and spread out and not very kid-friendly if you ask me. We had a major walk to our building and room from main building even though I paid for a "preferred" room that was supposed to be located near bus stop and lobby. The room was just ok...equal to a Courtyard Marriott or maybe a La Quinta...not awesome, but clean and comfy. Note: D and I are admittedly hotel snobs...it is true.
The food was not great...not healthy and not that real. It tasted pre-packaged and processed most of the time. I wish the food would have been better at the hotel for breakfast and dinner. It was like this most everywhere you choose to eat anywhere in Disney.

Lessons learned:
1. Fly out of Lake Charles- book earlier (more than 3months ahead)
2.Stay at a "deluxe" hotel resort if you can or at least a smaller "moderate" with a better property setup
3. Pack lots of snacks!!! more than you think you need!!
4. Have as little carry on baggage as possible for airplane
