This oil spill is really getting me down. I am so worried about our state and our fishermen who are simply out of luck and work. Not to mention the wildlife and sea life that will undoubtedly suffer in the months and years to come. Unfortunately for us, we had planned a joint family vacation with our cousins to Orange Beach, AL next month. We are debating whether or not to cancel since we have 2 days left to cancel and receive our money back. The rental company has informed me that even if we don't cancel on time, if the beach is closed due to oil spill we will receive a full refund...so I'm thinking we are waiting this one out. I was so looking forward to our vacation and spending time with our extended family- I really hope this works out! And as for BP: shame on them. This is not the first time they have had catastrophic explosions with fatalities. It seems they need to revisit safety guidelines at the very least.

I think you should go. It would be terrible if the beach were to close, but surely the property has a pool. Don't forget about all the shopping and fun stuff to do and eat around there. And you'd be stimulating their economy - I'm sure they are going to see a loss because of the spill.
