Clean slate

Here are some pics to show our clean slate! No floors, no doors, no trim, no toilets, no tubs, no sinks, no fireplace...all gone! We will be going over all walls and ceilings with sheetrock and floors will be wood and ceramic tile...and cushy carpet in bedrooms. We bought all of the tubs and toilets and sinks/vanities today and I am so pumped!

We did hit the proverbial bump in the road when we discovered just how bad the termite damage was. We thought it to be minimal, but it's pretty bad. I was shocked at how crazy the damage was--I mean hollow 2x4s and 2x12s!! Good news is that our house is brick so it won't crumble to the ground as I imagined : )  We have a carpenter looking at it today and all can be fixed...for a price. grrr.

I do need to brag on myself, husband and father for a minute. Everything you see was done/undone by us. No hired help; just elbow grease and sweat. I cannot wait to start putting all of the new stuff in the house--it is going to be so beautiful...and we will appreciate it so much more having done most of the work. I am not NOT laying floor this go round, but I will be tiling the bathroom counters and backsplash in the kitchen because I do love to do that, and it is easy and fun. I think we will be installing all fixtures and tubs and toilets...and painting and trim probably.

HA! I just have to smile at this road God has lead me and Donnie on...I would have never guessed. I am so thankful however because we have become a great team and have learned so much through these house remodels. It's ALL good!
