The Shack

I read The Shack by William Paul Young yesterday and wow. It was the most mind-expanding book I've ever read. It challenged my "religious" framework of how I view God and my relationship with him...for me, reinforcing the idea that religion is not really necessary as much as the relationship. I think I "get" it now. I also re-thought good and evil and how they exist in our world. I can honestly say the book changed me for the better, and I am so glad to have read it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has or desires to have a relationship with God as well as a peaceful outlook on forgiveness, life, death, heaven and hell and well... it pretty much encompasses everything. Disclaimer: the book will really challenge your ideas about God, religion and spirituality, but I personally love this kind of fiction because it opens up a dialogue, and any dialogue about God is in my mind a good one! It seems people either LOVE this book or HATE it :) it is a fast read too I read it during nap time!

Charles read this book and loved it. Recommends it all the time and even though i'm not a reader, we have discussed it at length and love the perspective of relationship, not religion... that is one of our core beliefs as a couple. Our church in Greenville, SC was so good about keeping that focus - it was a "Fellowship" church - no title of religion attached and they soley focused on our relationship with Jesus. very intriguing and I remember when I "got it" many years ago.. the "A HA" moment that made me rethink everything and make some radical changes... I'd love to chat with you about what you thought about the book - love, christa
