My baby's turning three

This Friday Madeline will be three-years-old. I am amazed at how fast it has gone (so cliche, I know). I remember all of those first feelings and emotions as vividly as the days they occurred. How awesome it is to have a child and to be a parent...I am just amazed. Lately Madeline is acting more like a little girl than a toddler. She is super-independent, which I am so proud of, and smart as a whip. She is sensitive and strong and very concerned about her friends and brother. Madeline is my music girl, singing to her cds (knowing all of the words and asking for me to teach her the ones she does not know) and frequently making up her own tunes. And then there is her speech. Several times Donnie and I have literally had to leave the room because we were laughing at her expressions. The latest kicker "You definitley break my heart." How do you respond to that when you are trying to discipline a 2-year-old?! She never ceases to surprise us. The other day at the park she walked up to a little girl and told her "Hi, my name is Madeline. Want to play with me? That's my mommy...she takes care of me and my brother all the days..." I almost cried my eyes out right there on the spot. Anyway, children are such a gift from God, and every single day I am reminded of that.

Wow, Haley! That brought tears to my eyes. I'm sure much of her personality is from God, but much of it is also because she has fantastic parents!
